Backpacking Equipment List

If you are in need of any of the equipment below, we recommend contacting the Elephants Perch (208) 726-3497, Backwoods Mountain Sports (208) 726-8818, or Sturtevants (208) 726-4501 - all located in downtown Ketchum.

 

WHAT IS PROVIDED:

AMGA certified and/or trained guide

• Guides will be carrying a first aid kit, navigation equipment, inReach satellite device, repair kit, water purification kit and survival supplies

• The North Face tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads (for rent, or you can provide your own)

• Cooking and eating utensils, stoves, fuel, cleaning supplies

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 1-2 liters of water (hydration bladders work well)

• Rain jacket (Black Diamond Liquid Point Rain Shell)

• Insulated jacket (Black Diamond Vision Hybrid Puffy)

• Warm mid-layer(s) (Black Diamond Coefficient Quarter Zip Fleece, Black Diamond First Light Stretch Hoody, or Black Diamond Crux Hoody)

Lightweight pants (Cotton, jeans, or sweatpants not recommended)

• Breathable t-shirt for warmer weather and/or a sun hoody (recommended for cool or cloudy days)

• Lightweight gloves

• Beanie or lightweight wool hat

• Sneakers or light duty hiking boots (no sandals/flip flops)

• 2-3 pairs of wool hiking socks (Smartwool socks)

• Sun glasses, sunscreen, lip balm, bug spray and a hat

• Toiletry kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, personal medication, etc.)

• Camp shoe (lightweight sandals or crocs)

Day pack (~60 liters) that is big enough to carry all the above items
